We rarely see superheroes fall down. Sometimes they face challenges and conflict, but they rarely stumble under the pressure. Superman is impervious save for kryptonite. Jesus is not superman. Jesus has no kryptonite. Jesus is the incarnation of God and man. But even in that divine presence, the weight of the cross causes him to stumble. We see in this a reminder that even when we have stumbled, God has been there, too. And Jesus did not lie down. He stood back up to finish his offering for us.
